Popty bach 2013 is a pilot international artists workshop, taking place over 10 days in part of a factory and using scrap materials from the bed and mattress manufacture. Participating artists are Igshaan Adams(Cape Town), Witty Nyide(Durban), Cliford Zulu(Bulawayo), Peter Baker(York), Louise Bird(Carmarthen) and Victoria Malcolm (Llanfihangel ar arth), who is creator and host of the event. It was inspired by the Triangle Network model first developed by Sir Anthony Caro and Robert Loder in the 1980s and since then it has been succesfully used all over the world (www.trianglearts.org).The emphasis is on experimentation and skillsharing, without a finished product in mind. Popty bach Open Day is for visitors to see what’s been going on and to meet the artists. Popty bach 2013 has been part funded by the Arts Council of Wales and is endorsed by Triangle Network and Trinity Saint Davids Coleg Sir Gar. Next autumn there wil be a fullscale Popty 2014 international artists workshop for 20 artists at a centre in Pembrokeshire.
