This exhibition will bring together some of the best recent print work from members of Cardiff Print Workshop and Swansea Print Workshop. It will celebrate the work of these two contemporary organisations, both dedicated to the art of printmaking in Wales today.

Print from Two Cities will feature many inspiring avenues of printmaking that these artists have dedicated their practice to; the exhibition boasts Cyanotypes, an incredible early photographic print process, pioneered by Botanist and Photographer Anna Atkins (1799-1871), Lino cuts, with the process resulting in sharp forms and lines such as in Die Brüke (The Bridge, artist group formed in Dresden, 1905) Artists Otto Mueller & Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and more common processes such as Screen-printing, amongst many other exciting and captivating processes.

Cardiff Print Workshop is an open access printmaking workshop run by artists for artists. Their aims are ‘To promote the original print as an art form’ through the use of the workshop facilities to allow Artists/Printmakers to develop their own technical skills and artistic practices whilst also exhibiting and promoting their work as part of a group.

Swansea Print Workshop is a fine art printmaking studio run by a group of artists. Set up in 1998 as a not-for-profit organisation, it is a hub for fine art printmaking in South Wales. Swansea Print Workshop is unique in Wales for its support of projects and outreach work which promotes community participation in the arts, as well as providing resources and facilities to professional artists and the public alike.
