Bankley Gallery presents Processed Limitations, the work of 3 Manchester based Artists graduates of Manchester Metropolitan University’s MAFA – STEPHEN ASHDOWN, JO McGONIGAL, EVANGELIA SPILIOPOULOU. The exhibition is scheduled to coincide with Bankley Open Studios 2010 event showcasing the 36 artists resident at Bankley Studios. Processed Limitations presents three drawing practices. Although visually dissimilar and technically diverse, from obsessive repetitive mark making to systematic testing of the limits of observational and rendering skills or the use of Microsoft Office as a draftsman’s tool, they are highly individual in terms of their aesthetic outcome. All three are essentially conceptual in their approach to the tradition of drawing as an art form and examine the automatisms involved in the creative process.
