The Site Festival is a contemporary arts festival, now in its 18th year, which brings a full and dynamicprogramme of visual arts, performance, music, screenings, open studios, artist talks and workshopsto the Stroud Valleys for the whole month of May.The Site Festival 2014 will be opening with an exhibition of new work by John Wood and PaulHarrison in the Brunel Goods Shed and in SVA’s new exhibition space in John Street. This show willinclude 7 new video works linked by a sense of foreboding and violence, undercut by a lack ofspectacle and drama. The show will also include over 50 small drawings.An exhibition catalogue will be available with texts from Simon Munnery, writer and experimentalstandup comedian and Tony Fretton, Principal of Tony Fretton Architects.SVA hosts the Site Festival, which draws thousands of visitors to Stroud every year. SVA will beopening its newly refurbished street facing exhibition and studio spaces in John Street for the SiteFestival. This has been made possible through funding from the Arts Council, Summerfield Trust andGloucestershire Environmental Trust. The building has been designed by Tony Fretton Architects,whose back catalogue includes the Camden Art Centre, London; the Lisson Gallery and the BritishEmbassy in Warsaw.For this year’s Open Studios artists will be combining creative forces with writers and poets intheir studios during the weekends.
