The Age of Responsibility and Other Stories is an exhibition of four series of drawings and paintings by local artist Bridget H Jackson. Two of these series – the Age of Responsibility and Daily Obsolescence – take as their starting point our obsession with news and analysis, our thirst for new information and the seeming inability for that information to make any difference in the end. We started the last decade with the bursting of the dot-com bubble; we have ended it with the credit crunch. Now we examine unemployment numbers and home repossession figures for signs that their increase is slowing, that they will plateau and fall. We look for signs that things are returning to normal; the bubbles are slowly inflating again.
