The exhibition has been curated and developed by a selection of Sheffield based curators and artists, working under the collaborative name of HEC (Hallam Elective Curators), displaying individual practices, contributing to the aesthetic backdrop of the grand public opening of the Furnival building. The exhibition ‘A Definitive Guide’ will culminate in a closing ceremony on Tuesday 9th December having officially announced the arrival of the department to City campus.Taking inspiration from the building itself, the exhibition highlights the Universities accommodation of the Fine Art department and as such a collaboration has been struck up between student and university, artist and corporation, viewer and maker. The show is comprised of 13 individual pieces of work, ranging from more traditional methods of artistic practice such as paintings and sculpture to the more inventive and subtle forms of displaying artwork. From live feeds showing water paintings and orchestral music recitals to installations and event based works, this two week long show, will touch on the vast resources available at Sheffield Hallam.Open to all, admission is free.
