In their first ever solo exhibition Hsiao-Chi Tsai and Kimiya Yoshikawa present a series of breath-taking illuminated sculptures.Taking inspiration from sources as diverse as feathers, sea anemone, flowers and tendrils and microscopic details of plants, Tsai and Yoshikawa create visually spectacular installations that cross the boundaries of art, design, sculpture and craft. The vibrant colourful structures, often painstakingly assembled from hundreds of individual pieces, combine natural forms and patterns with modern materials and finishes. This exhibition, including both existing and new site-specific works, furthers the artists’ interest in the interaction of light withsurfaces. Viewers can experience the installations in both the light, where dramatic shadows become part of the works themselves, and in darkness that allows the pieces to glow from within.
