Idea Generation Gallery is pleased to present selected works from the highly acclaimed British artist, Tony Gill. Curated by Matthew Donaldson, the striking exhibition made up of a series of immense 8 foot high canvases and works on paper forms part of the Concrete and Glass festival, taking place at numerous venues across Shoreditch. London born Gill trained at Chelsea Art School before moving to New York in the 1990s. At a time when graffiti art and rap music spread into the world of fine art, Gill found his defining artistic style. Influenced by a broad spectrum of work – from his brother's comic collection first devoured as a boy, to American artist Julian Schnabel and Picasso's infamous Guernica, Gill's dynamic expression of compositional chaos is intensely reflected in his latest work, depicting a story of his life and crimes. Curator Matthew Donaldson commented, "This latest series of work is quite incredible. When face to face with the vast works, the outburst of colour and expression is all-consuming as the magnetic energy subconsciously draws you into the canvas."
