Following the successful “Timescape” project at Calke Abbey, Derbyshire, g8artists, Maureen Cooper, Graham Ensor, Diane E. Hall and Robert Thacker have developed new ideas and directions that express their enthusiasm for the natural environment. Inspired by the marks of time and industry interacting with the patterns and persistent energy of nature in The National Forest area, they have followed an exploratory and experimental approach to ideas and materials to create work which includes paintings, drawings, installations, textiles, collage, printing and photographs. The fascination of the forest is its ever changing light, colour and growth as seasons develop and time passes. People have always lived and worked in forest areas, leaving traces of their presence throughout history but nature eventually takes over. They aim to show this past and continuing relationship with the forest and to encourage the viewer to develop an increasing awareness and appreciation of what is around us. www.g8artists.co.uk
