Two artists painting “en plein air” in a cold Venice of March this year and then a warm Spring and Summer in London have produced a fascinating juxtaposition of styles. Richard Colson’s loose and impressionistic paintings created with vigorous brushstrokes and the more detailed delicate and soft- focus style of Rod Pearce. Both are high profile artists, Rod studied at Chelsea School of Art. In 2003 he was commissioned by Cunard to produce 3 large pieces for Queen Mary II. Richard studied at Goldsmiths and has work in The House of Commons, Palace of Westminster and Shell International. All works can be seen on www.russell-gallery.com
