Paradise: Wildflower

Kai-OI Jay Yung, ‘Paradise: Wildflower’, Video still, 2008. Courtesy: Copyright the artist. Yung explores the visual syncopation of a dancer’s movements when placed in the editing timeline alongside live gospel, electro and African beat. A hypnotic rhythmic echoes the spiritual undertone and harmony emanating from the dancer’s movement and her connection to the natural surroundings. This seamlessness however is in danger of being corrupted by our difficulty to escape MTV commonality. One of eight interlinking yet diverse video pieces to be exhibited in her Paradise Stories installation.
