Work in Progress

‘Work in Progress’, Wood, galvanised mesh, nails, Feb 2014. Photo: Karen MacGregor.

This is an image of the starting constuction of my beagle shaped sculpture. The skeleton is made from wood so that is a strong structure that can stand independantly. I am making the body using wire which is tricky to work with but so far it is working well. I hope to use paper machet to create a relatively smooth shell before painting the body and then covering the body with colourful crochet squares. It is a working progress that may change and develope during the course of its construction. The one thing i found a nuisance so far was that the screws that were used to attach the feet blocks were not quite long enough so the feet moved and then fell off. I had to improvise and use two nails per foot in order to secure them in place. So far no problems since.
