An ongoing project researching the umbrella and fortune. In Sicili we throw rice, give sugared almonds and money for good luck and fertility. In the Uk good luck objects can be a rabbits foot, wooden spoons, four leaf clover, horse shoes ect but I have found more evidence in superstition and bad luck so I decided to create my own take on The Umbrella by throwing paint and allowing it to remain as a good luck omen – like collecting coins or rice…
