Ribbon structure

Philippe Moine, ‘Ribbon structure’, Resin, August 2009. Photo: David Lawson. Philippe Moine constructed this sculpture using a 3D printer.  He started by making a drawing on a computer which was then automatically cut from a soft resin substance which dries hard when exposed to the air.  This is a new technique devised to enable complex structures to be made without using moulds.
