Whoops!

This blog post seems to have become detached from it's parent blog!

I’ve started sketching reed diffusers digitally and with pen on paper. It’s partly done using observation but I’ve changed some aspects of it. The wooden sticks flow out of the bottle in the same way hair does. I see that there is a pattern of my wish to distort things found in reality. For example the bending of the metal sheets in the last semester. Mona mentioned it in the feedback of the work.

I actually started sketching reed diffusers in 2018. I’d like to continue on that strand because I feel that there’s something interesting to explore.

I prefer the ones I sketched on paper to the digital ones because I like the texture of the sketches. The grain of the paper compliments the cross hatch.

I haven’t practiced drawing on iPad much, so I felt that I had less control with sketching on it. It’s possible that the differences in skills with the mediums affect how well I like the work. So i’ll try to practice more iPad drawings to see whether my opinions change. I want to use the printmaking workshops to print the drawings but the university is currently closed due to lockdown.
