John Oxley is an archaeologist and artist. His artistic practice draws heavily on his archaeological training, placing emphasis on the similarities between archaeological and artistic methodologies and practice. He works with both film and digital media. He produces works which can be photo- video- or text-based, or can be combinations of all three. These are either printed and exhibited in a traditional fashion or shown on monitors, as projections, or within installations. Examples can be viewed at www.bellevuestudio.co.uk.

He is also a member of Geodesic Arts (www.geodesicarts.org), a collaborative group of artists based in York.
