WILTSHIRE CREATIVE’S SUMMER OPEN EXHIBITION AT SALISBURY ARTS CENTRE

Wiltshire Creative’s second Summer Open Exhibition has opened at Salisbury Arts Centre, featuring 83 pieces by 69 different artists.

The Summer Open Exhibition celebrates artists from Wiltshire and surrounding counties at any stage of their career. Work on display includes painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, glass, textiles, collage and mixed media. This is a selling exhibition which runs until 10 October 2020.

As part of the exhibition there will be two prizes. The Memory Fine Art Prize will be a public vote announced at the end of the exhibition, with the winner receiving £200 and the opportunity to exhibit at Memory Fine Art Gallery in Salisbury. The Noble Arts Prize will be for a young artist aged 25 or under. The winner will be selected by Sharon Noble and announced shortly.

The exhibition marks the re-opening of Salisbury Arts Centre, offering an opportunity to view the exhibition in a safe way, and with the indoor café now fully open.

The exhibition’s curator, Wiltshire Creative Resident Artist Mirka Golden-Hann, said: “Nothing gives me a greater sense of fulfilment after so many months of lockdown and working from home than to be involved in the installation of an actual exhibition and present in the flesh so many wonderful works of art. As you probably know, artists and arts organisations have suffered a massive knock back due to the Covid crisis. So, if you fall in love with a piece in our exhibition, make it yours. By purchasing a work of art you are endorsing the artists’ practice but also supporting us to carry on with our artistic programme, and your custom now will be appreciated more then ever before. Thank you.”

Salisbury Arts Centre is open Tuesday to Friday from 11am-3pm and Saturday from 10am-4pm. For more information about the exhibition and café visit www.wiltshirecreative.co.uk
