Artist working with own knitted textiles, paper laser cuts and hand printed wallpaper to create Site Specific Contemporary art in the landscape of original inspiration - Shetland. The narrative of my work is a connection to the gendered, undervalued, domestic craft of knitting fine Shetland lace and to the women who subsidised an income through their skilled work. I place may work back into abandoned croft houses across Shetland, where I seek out traces of the women who once knitted and lived there. my work is a testament to those women. I am interested in the value, heritage and traditions of hand made creative skills in relation to – or relevance to art practices today. Sheffield / Shetland.
