A hundred people attended the launch which included the world premier of a specially composed Nonsense Symphony by Jonny Fill and his orchestra, and a dramatic performance of The Jabberwocky by Matt, as well as an illustrated history of nonsense literature, including excerpts from Marinetti’s Futurist Manifesto on men’s clothing, and the evening concluded with Matt’s reading of his Prequel and Sequel, either side of Edward Lear’s poem.
The book, The Owl and the Pussy-cat and the Turtles of Fun, includes Edward Lear’s famous poem, set between a new Prequel and Sequel by renowned Sheffield poet Matt Black, with a delightfully modern flavour.
With gorgeous illustrations by Pip Hall, this book has been created to entertain children, adults and walruses. Available from Two Rivers Press (www.tworiverspress.com)
