In this blog we will be collecting our thoughts while building, develop and using 3D printers. Working from an open source starting point, we hope to get to grip with this newer technology which over the last few years has become a little more accessible, with the intention of documenting its impact on our individual and collective practices, as well as in day to day activity.
This is the first video diary of conversation we will be having around 3D printing. We are at the moment exploring the possibilities of our first Mendel 3D printer which Nathan completed several weekends ago. We decided not to create an instructional partly because we have so little time but also because there are so many video available already. But we will show you the development of things we work on over the next few month and try update this play list once ever weekend or fortnight. (20/06/2013)
3D Printer Video Diary – Log 1 (nozzle size, spool holder & print error)
BBKP are a group of four artists working across multiple disciplines, producing digital, sculptural and wall based works in participatory settings. They engage with global themes through their personal relationships to current and historical Empire and colonialism. In their last participatory project, which was based on photography, mixed works produced by their audience with their own machines, photographsand videos, blurring the distinction between artist and public; a museum of objects infused with stories of their own creation. They work in museums and galleries, taking a little of the museum into the art world and vice versa.
