Having recently graduated I am now starting out as a professional artist. I have started this blog to chart my journey as an emerging artist or you could say as a little fish flying into the wind.

The transition from 3rd year art student to professional artist has not been the easiest of tasks, and is a continual process since I finished my studies in May.

The final semester of the degree was the hardest of them all, and I spent half the time fighting the sense of impending doom which pervaded the air of the studio. We had floods plagues of builders and as the degree show got closer emotional turmoil.

This all seems like a world a way now, as I am writing to you from my own studio. I have been lucky, I recieved a bursary to begin my professional practice, which has got me enough art supplies and my own studio space, I just hope I can not get the ball rolling and gain momentum withn my career. So far had two shows which just sort of fell into my lap and one coming up in February in London which is really exciting!

I have begun to submit proposals to galleries, commisioning agents and other organisations. Its exciting and nervewracking but I hope that I’ll start getting some interviews soon. Its a little scary because at uni we had a local artist come to speak to us who brought with him enough rejection letters to wallpaper a large room. I hope that I get a little bit more luck than that!
