Taylor, A. and Taylor, J. Roffey, M. (2001, p.6) “And each one screams, when bricks and beans Come tumbling on their heads;”

This drawing is moving the story on as it shows the evil watch’s entering the town. They have come to take over and make everyone work for them. If the town”s people try and stop them they will kill them. Later in the story we see that the town’s people will not stop with out a fight.

The purple haze would has entered the town is what the watches have come to this world through. I have made it bright so the viewer notices it. The focal point of the work is the watches as they walk down the street. The one in front is the leader, the other two follow her, even through they feel alone. The head witch, this is the one with the most skill and power. We can see the shop windows as they are walking down the street. The objects in the windows have interesting shapes and their is quite a lot of detail, as the viewer can see what each one is.

Kaoru Arima’s drawings of females betray a quite simple but effective feel to them. As they get you interested in the drawing. They feature strong images of women, in a basic prose, like in my drawings they have simple positions, but their is meaning. As they are a threat to the town and as they move closer, they are coming to destroy it. They have hidden meanings. Dexter (2006, p.22) “Arima’s drawings are sustained by their firm grounding in everyday imagery and themes.”  They show women going about their everyday lives and they show the problems which life unfolds on us. Fitting in and standing for what we believe in. The other two witches stand by her, as it is better to be with her, than alone. My work covers these themes as it shows the witches trying to fit in with a powerful witch and the town people standing for there home town. They are going about their everyday lives, when they are coming to attack.

Montrie reports that “what their reasons were for engaging in sabotage.” (2003, p.1) I have been looking at the real event of August 1968 when four men went to a mine and take the guard, and blow up  the building with the company’s explosives. No one knows why they did it to this day. This links in with my own work as the town is under siege.

I feel that there is not a lot happening in the picture, but it is effective as it shows the evil coming to town. I like the use of pastel against the monochrome, as it adds a interesting contrast. I like the way I have drawing the head witch, as she looks evil.

The work is very basic, and their is not a lot of depth in the shapes and foreground. The figures do not look much of a threat. The viewer can not see much of the shops, as it looks like they are hanging off the page. The witches are going to stop the town people, they are surprising them. They is a scene of unease, as they are going to be attacked, but the image does not show this, no tension in the drawing. Grimm, J. and Grimm, W. (2004, p.148) “Then he was going to creep up after her and gobble her up in the dark.” In the tale Little Red Riding Hood the wolf is trying to eat Red and her grandmother. The wolf is waiting for Red Riding Hood to leave so he can eat them both. The grandmother has figured out what he is trying to do.  So my work links in to this tale and as it is about feelings and themes. As my drawing shows the tension of someone trying to hurt someone. Just as the Grimm’s work does show these themes. This is how the story goes in the Grimm’s tale.
