With support from a-n i have started a new collaboration with Reenee Singh, a family psychotherapist.

The aim is to develop an exchange between us which will inform the creative film process in my research for an artist’s film on familial interdependency.

I aim to continue the blog into film production and beyond.

This weekend was the Dance Digital Festival in Bedford where I presented a pilot research-in-progress exploring some interactive elemebnts in a set within which family audiences were invited to participate.

I asked a lot of questions. And presented a lecture.

I will post some thoughts about it all soon.

Failure and the family

The eldest seeks support and approval by treading, and surpassing, a familiar path. The second reacts against, and is free to seek their own. Without parental support she makes the first pioneering leap away from the path, but finds it harder to surpass that leap, into the success comparable to the eldest. She later starts to stare at failure. She eventually comforts herself in knowing that she is able to support her own offspring in this new direction, potentially surpassing her own.
