In May 2008, a group of artists and art students came together for a two-week outdoor exhibition in the village of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog. The exhibition was called "Inside Out". Archaeological illustrator John Swogger and myself, Diana Baur, co-ordinated the project.

Art is generally perceived to be something that hangs in a frame, on a wall, inside. Much contemporary art makes use of the blank, white gallery space as part of its canvas.

The original idea behind "Inside Out" was to confront that notion and invite students and alumni of the fine Arts Department of North Wales School of Art and Design at Glyndwr University, to explore the possibilities of an external exhibition space.

Permission was sought and kindly granted by the villagers of Llanarmon to use their gardens and drives for display.

The resulting, successful exhibition attracted many visitors and photographs of the event can be viewed on the Inside Out link on the website www.earth-gallery.co.uk. The catalogue can been purchased from Lulu.com by typing in Swogger in the search bar.

This coming May plans are afoot to exhibit again in a similar manner, the theme being Inside Out – Time and Place.
