It’s currently reading week, and I’m already missing the studio. I seem to go against the trend of enjoying a break from uni – I find it so frustrating to not be able to continue with my work at uni.

I got my feedback for last semester the week just gone and I’m still thinking about it. There are a number of things that have bothered me and have left me rather in the black as to what I need to do to improve as I disagree with what my lecturers have said.

Despite being told at the beginning of last semester that we must try to experiment and explore as many relevant avenues as possible,

Just thought I’d show you one of the paintings that I am working on at the moment…

My latest finished painting took me about 2 years to complete as I tend to work on around five or more at a time. I expect this one not to take as long as I am more aware now of the processes I use as well as my method. Just a few more layers and this piece will probably be complete. I say ‘probably’ as I am fussy when it comes to my work – I might say it is finished one day and then decide it needs more doing.

Have more to say, but running out of time. So more for next time!

When I visited Frieze last year in London, I came across this piece which I am STILL thinking about, but I cannot find out who the artist is. Has anyone got any ideas?

Whilst I have always appreciated the use of film in art, I have felt reluctant to incorporate it with my found objcts as I would want it to be more responsive to the piece as opposed to just projecting a film onto it. This piece however shows that whilst film is being projected onto a sculpture, it brings the sculpture to life. It is no longer a projection, but part of the sculpture itself.

Unsure how to upload a video, so if any of you can let me know, I will upload a video of this piece.

I have been quite productive as of late and managed to book the photography studio a couple of days ago so I could take some more crisp photos of some of my latest work.

I generally struggle with titles for my work, so still humming and ahh-ing over what to call my girder piece. I don’t even know what to call the other piece either… I’m hoping it will come to me. I would be interested to hear from those of you who manage to title their works and how you decide on them…

Just published my updated website, so please feel free to have a mooch :-)
