After a really productive time last week I have stalled somewhat.
I went to Galeri last week to have another look at the space in relation to the work I’ve made so far. The space seems to get bigger every time I see it.
My “drawings” will hang from the gantry (top left) currently occupied by Sarah G. Key’s installation “Oh Buoy Barnacles”.
The semi-finished piece I unrolled on the Galeri floor is 3 metres long by 1.8 metres wide, which I was assured will be fine. (Diolch, Lowri.) The marks are probably sufficiently strong to be visible at a distance, but – yes – there is at least one totally unintended figure emerging from the network of lines. I have decided to ignore it for the time being and crack on with piece number two. If, by the deadline in October, I haven’t managed to resolve it back into the horizon I will just have to dig out the story of the giants. Lowri assures me that suspended figures will not upset the visitors.
Disappointingly, but rather as I feared, the graphite is proving impossible to fix. I have rolled up the canvas with tissue paper and crossed my fingers.
Yesterday I finished some tiny artist’s books for the cabinet and today I am just flopping about.
