Dear Reader,
I am hoping to uncover what makes a successful social media account. Starting with a blank slate I have created a new email and Instagram account. These accounts will be purely for my professional development and self-promotion.
I am planning to look at successful Instgam artists and see what they have in common so that I may implicate this in my own account. Things I will be observing:
- Use of hashtags
- Trends
- Likes to following ratio
- Post times
- Cross platform promotion
- Paid promotion
- Video to image ratio
- Target demographics
- Age, Sex, Geographical location
- Revealed/Concealed identity
My first course of action will be to follow as many artists as I can think off, both from my own personal life and those who are popular on the platform. I want to see how many followers I can gain without even submitting my first post, and then with the starting number I will monitor the fluctuation of followers as I start posting my work. I’m hoping this will be a springboard in me learning how to build a successful following online.
