Earlier on last week I created a folder with all my used make-up wipes which I had from when I originally began collecting them months ago. They are all so similar yet so different at the same time. Several people have commented to me about how they remind them of animal skin with these distinct coloured markings. All cheetahs for example have similar markings from first glance but once investigated further they in fact differentiate a lot to another. Animals are often exploited for their skin for coats, leather, etc and in a way I feel my wipes do kind of look like that now I think about it. It’s not what I planned them on appearing to look like, they just do in a way. It is the remains of my face from that day which is then used as a piece. I suppose like an animal skin, their identity completely being took and branded across some designer label, while myself has been printed onto that wipe. I’m not sure I’m quite getting across what I want to say. Perhaps it is just a difficult idea to grasp thinking like this.
