Future Public Access is Uncertain. Looped Video 2011 I filmed this during a Circa Contemporary Art Residency at The Robert Stephenson Works Newcastle. I was activating areas of a historic building once integral to the Industrial Revolution and noe ‘mothballed’ in a Grade 2 listing. The piece fits with the liminal feeling of my current sculptural work. I am almost 100% sure I will be using it in my final show. It comes with an enhanced found sound work. I have installed both on the stairwell at Ashburne but have decided on a ‘White Cube’ space for my degree show. The challenge now is to combine all the elements and deal with the aesthetics of the combinations and the practicalities such as lighting.

This is Ashburne. The snowdrops are gone, the crocuses are currently ‘going over’ and the daffodils coming. The billboard is currently missing. It ‘disappeared’ in a ‘panic’ one Friday without enough thought been given it seems. Calmer heads prevail and it appears it will return soon. Good, the art it displays can push the boundaries, makes me think and often laugh at loud as I turn up the drive. My whole time at Ashburne has made me do that. I think we’ll class that as a success.

This is my studio space. It is also my degree show space. I’m feeling ok. Happy with my work though still pushing on with new ideas and with the time left until the build up to the show. Easter arrives soon and failing a crisis in confidence arriving I’m getting the elements in place to put on a show that pleases me.
