WINTER WONDERLAND

Westgate Studio and beyond, Wakefield (UK)

Wednesday 30th November 2011 (November Artwalk)

OPEN CALL:

Everyone is a little fed up right now, not much to feel good about. The economy is in a mess and for many this year; it will be a leaner festive period. In these materialistic times, we believe it is better to give than receive; well, we are giving you an opportunity! And we hope to receive some cracking art in return!

For Winter Wonderland, we want to decorate as many Christmas trees as possible with specially created ‘trimmings’ in whatever size and shape and materials you like; baubles, paper chains, tinsel, hangings or even make a tree! We don’t want to limit you, except to time: the event is 30th November. Painted, drawn or made – we want some sparkle and light and fun!

At the end of the exhibition we’ll be boxing the art up, popping it in the attic and bringing it all out again next year.

Please post all items to: Alice & Bob, Studio A6, Westgate Studio, 55 Westgate, Wakefield, WF1 1BW, UK

Deadline (receiving not postmark date): 23rd November 2011

No submission fee, no payments.

Lucy Crouch – New Work: An exhibition of recent drawing

Project Space, Westgate Studios, Wakefield

Preview: Wednesday 28th September 2011, 5-9pm

Lucy Crouch’s practice explores what lies between distance and proximity, and location and dislocation. Her drawings look at the depiction of time and space both through the perspective of the map/globe projection and the land as a physical description of place. Lucy prolongs the drawing process, sometimes composing the work by overlaying an initial collection of images through various systems.
