It has been a difficult two weeks due to an operation underneath my right foot so getting about has been painful and tiring. on the mend now though.

I’ve started to think about using paper lithograph in my core work. Collaging images onto my oil paintings. Continuing my still life but pushing it further. I plan to explore a vessel within a vessel using photographs of my daughter Amelia within the image. She is a very gentle child that has had health problems since she was a baby right through into adulthood. She is quiet and reflective. For these reasons she seems to slot into the work I am doing. She was also the model for my painting that was accepted for the Wales Portrait Award, so I have worked with her before. She fascinates me. There is something intensely fragile about her. This project will carry on from my last module where my paintings used layering as a form expressing human emotion.

The photographs will be gentle portrait studies. I plan to use some photos of myself also. We are very alike. The theme of the work will still contain a single object within the canvas highlighting a sense of silence, aloneness and isolation.
