The workshop will be led by Duncan Cameron, a finalist of the 2019 John Ruskin Prize and Programme Leader in Art Foundation at Strode College. Duncan has a great reputation for teaching; running online classes through the Isolation Art School during the lockdown and winning the Silver Teaching Award for the Pearson Further Education Lecturer of the Year.

During this Back to Basics workshop, you will be honing your observational skills using a variety of objects from Duncan’s extensive collection; including skulls, nests, crayfish, lobster claws, and all manner of other items to study and draw. You will be focussing on comparative anatomy and building a sketchbook spread, whilst working with a variety of media and text.

The session will give you a chance to revisit your fundamental drawing skills as part of our Back to Basics drawing events in October. Each week your tutors will be focusing on a different method of drawing and mark-making, with a range of expert tutors to give you a chance to really get to grips with a variety of drawing techniques. Everyone who signs up will receive a sketchbook for each session, all drawing materials will be included as part of the price.

These sessions are perfect if you’re out of practice and would like to revisit your drawing essentials. Available as single sessions or sign up for all four as a package for a reduced price.
