Iterations brings together seven contemporary artists who explore the creative potentialities of repetition and the use of iterative sequences. This might be a rotational movement, a super-imposition of forms, the off-setting of a motif or a repeated action. Through these manipulations, a beguiling array of complex forms, structures and compositions are generated.
The term iteration in this exhibition draws our attention to successive procedures and the rhythmic pressures (through mark making) that each of the artists utilizes. No one component works in isolation. Inherent within each artists approach is a parallel notion of enquiry. Elaborate and compulsive networks of tectonic structures are often combined with retinal wave theory or the manipulation of fluidity. The viewer seems catapulted beyond the sheer physicality of the structures towards an awareness concerning the works conception/ perception.
