Renowned for her exploration of the cosmos and geological time, artist Katie Paterson has amassed a collection of 10,000 tree species sourced from almost every country across the world to form a new artwork for Royal Fort Gardens from Spring 2016.

Over these few days, the artist and a team of researchers and assistants from the University’s Life Sciences department will be sorting through samples from fossilized trees from the first forests that emerged over 390 million years ago to the most recent emergent species, creating the artwork’s very special interior structure.

Explore the collection and hold the planet in your hand.
