Writing the text took a while and there were two attempts at the Chinese script in order to place it in a way that it was legible. Another group of men seemed to find fault in my characters and then wrote the phrase ‘the customer is always wrong’ in Chinese in the sand a little further along the beach. I think they thought my script was too elongated and thus misshapen as they were looking at it from above rather than from the further up the beach on a slope falling away from the camera lens.
