Engagement and Entrapment
Another exhibition offering a less than straightforward approach to encountering art is taking place at the Michael Zampelas Art Museum, Cyprus. Artist and curator Diana Ali has brought together over 30 practitioners to contribute work that utilises subversive engagement, tactics and trickery to contest the rules and laws of systems. Featuring photography, painting and sculpture, installation and new media.
24 July – 7 August, Zmart Gallery of the Loukia & Michael Zampelas Art Museum, Cyprus

The Destruction of Anything Familiar
The work of Ian Rayer-Smith fuses elements of Abstract Expressionism with Renaissance painting. The results are instantly powerful, with bold brush strokes and use of colour. However, underpinning the work is a more sensual and emotive narrative. Well worth checking out.
