Céline Siani Djiakoua is a French multidisciplinary visual artist who was born in Nantes. Céline Siani Djiakoua’s core practice consists in delicate and elegant autobiographical line drawings which are both analytical and emotional, mainly representing a female figure. Viewers often strongly identify with the work and see it as representing themselves in specific emotional states. She sees no separation between the development of her work and the development of her life, which she explores through diary practice, body work, meditation and dream analysis. When presented through installations, her work is multidisciplinary and site specific. Céline Siani Djiakoua uses moving images, sound, words, projections and, more recently, virtual reality. Yet, she is also very interested in the more physical and tactile aspects of works on paper such as the book form and printing processes. Her multi-layered installations often show specific interests relating to injustices inflicted to Peoples, Women and Nature. She sees parallels between large scale human conflicts and our inner conflicts – the inseparable, reflected notions of macrocosm and microcosm. nottingham
