Evan Ifekoya is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in London, who explores the politicisation of culture, society and aesthetics. Ifekoya’s work uses appropriated material from historical archives and contemporary society; by ‘queerying’ popular imagery and using the props of everyday life, it aims to destroy the aura of preciousness surrounding art. Aspects of technology and the ways it mediates our lives permeate through the work: social media and mobile technology act as co-performers in live events. Ifekoya works collaboratively as part of Collective Creativity: Critical reflections into QTIPOC creative practice and Network11.
