As a socially engaged artist, taking a pro-active approach to engaging with local communities is a vital element of a residency; this process supports and feeds both exploration and response to location. Whatever form the artwork takes: installation/s, sculpture or performance; the choice of materials, construction methods and form relate to the history, location and function of the place in which the work is situated.
