I completed a BA in Photography and Filmmaking in 2005 and have been undertaking a period of self-initiated study for the last few years. I wanted to get back to making by hand, as well as to explore my work in a more critical way. Currently I work with paper, found objects and sometimes fabric. I’m interested in the visual elements of the things people reject and leave behind, or don’t see and I draw inspiration from abstraction, assemblage and collage, reducing found objects and other ephemera to their simplest forms, line, shape and colour and combining and arranging found objects and images in a gestural, handmade and expressive way. I’ve been working as an artist for an ongoing Art for Wellbeing community project for the last two years and I’m really interested in the way that art can transform people’s lives. www.lisarisbec.co.uk Manchester, UK
