Amongst other data, the paper reveals that only 5% of artists applied to ACE for funding in 2008-10 of which less than half were successful. These low figures were repeated across the other three UK arts councils, with under 20% of available visual arts funding in England, 14% for Northern Ireland and around 18% for Scotland and Wales distributed directly to artists in the study years.
