Castlefield Gallery's vision is to be a leader in the North of England that champions talent within a national context. Its mission is to nurture talent, explore cultural trends and deepen audience's relationship to contemporary art.

Since its founding in 1984, Castlefield Gallery has been one of the North's most successful organisations/agencies for developing contemporary artists and emerging practice. Its ambitious exhibitions programme responds to national/international trends, promoting artists at key stages of their careers, including subsequent Turner Prize nominees/winners and exhibitors at international festivals. Castlefield Gallery also has an artist development programme that has launched major commission winning artists.
