These are the latest set of images I have been working on. I'm planning a series of lino cuts called impressions of Borneo! These two are very loosely based on tattoo and fabric patterns of the Iban people. On studying the patterns from the Iban culture I found there is a similarity with those originating in the Celtic culture and reflections of those found in Japanese Aztec artefacts. I am trying to reflect this fusion in these images.

This is the first image I sent to my partner Allison. Not sure that it was a very good choice. It's produced in PhotoShop and the intention was to produce both a photopolymer and a litho etching from it.

I am working with Patricia Graves. First thoughts and ideas we had were to combine a screenprint of my still life based on my studio space; my 'sense of place', then incorporating one of Patricia's screenprints as her 'sense of place' within my still life image. After careful consideration, we decided it would be too challenging in the limited time we have. We have therefore simplified our idea by working on grounds for the bluebell wood image instead. The grounds contain organic shapes and colours based on foliage and decay surrounding my house in the woods which ties in with Patricia's Bluebell Wood. We have spent two days at my studio in Llandudno this week working together. The first day was a complete disaster due to technical problems. We were using acrylic paint mixed with retarder to create the grounds. The reason for this was the speed of drying coupled with acrylic paint being used over the top in the form of the screenprint. The paint dried too quickly and the chine colle stuck to the plate. The whole lot was thrown away and we left frustrated and fed up. We had more success yesterday using Intaglio Inks and have produced some interesting images.

Hi this is my first go at 'blogging', but I will try to put on pics.

Well I seem to have managed to put some pics on, had a couple of hiccups though, thought at one point i had put on my entire home album!!!

I am starting to etch a zink plate and my partner (Julie) and I are still discussing our development options
