Day 1 of a new season in my work. September 1st and I'm still surrounded by five children (one's not my own), a half built studio, an unfinished commission and a forthcoming show. But I can see time ahead. The ACE funding has enabled me to cut back on my projects with schools and community groups and concentrate on a new body of work. The Juliet Gomperts Trust is helping convert space into studio. Space, time, funding – the artist's Holy Grail – well for nine months anyway …… I could develop a taste for that!
