Finally something from Mr Herbert Haut, with an artists statement.
I’m interested in the creation of identity. I’m intrigued by the many devices individuals use to project what they consider to be desirable qualities to the wider world.
Taken a year after moving to Wales, at locations throughout Pembrokeshire each pictures includes a sticker.
These identical, disposable markers carry an illegible authors name, posted for an unknown cause.
Their function can only be guessed at by the viewer, using whatever clues they find in the immediate environment.
Are they marking territory?
What are they promoting?
Their identity, like ours, is governed by the location we are viewed in.
I have photographed another 5 images from Dr J Beau and this process alone is proving really valuable.
I now have good quality photos of each piece, regardless of whether it is going to be used or not. I also have small compressed versions of them should i need them. The most important aspect of this process is actually seeing how much stuff i have and also getting a feel for work that i have not seen for a while.
I looked at some of Mr H Haut’s work the other night and decided that it just was not good enough so am gonna have to re present that. Images to follow in the next blog, and eventually artists statement.
I keep putting it off which is just daft cause I know it is all up there, in my head, just getting it on paper.
Have had my exhibition dates moved forward so gonna have to pick up the pace a bit. The exhibition will be January 22nd till March 5th in Oriel Fach, Queens Hall, Narberth.

My eldest son started school last Thursday so I have a lot more time on my hands.
I have managed to contact a local framer who has said he will look at remaking the frames that have fallen to bits and have photographed some artwork without glass in front.
The images are just some of those that I am considering for the exhibition. They are all from Dr J Beau.
Dr J Beau’s landscapes are concerned with using the socially valued skills of mathematics, repetition, precision, tasteful colours and carefully blended gradients. His aim is to produce artwork that is not in anyway upsetting or challenging, shows clear progression from one image to the next and carries his signature.
More recent works have shown a more expressive use of colour and even attempts at spontaneous gesture.
