The opening is tommorrow!

It looks great and we’re both really excited to see the reaction!

We had the Falkirk Herald in today for interviews too so look out for that.

Photos of the install and of the opening very soon.

Fidget reflects different aspects of our practices which we wanted to bring to the exhibition: A high energy level approach to exploration and experimentation.

We have both been influenced by Douglas Gordon’s approach to video installation and subject matters. Lewis Holleran’s main influences would include Ceal Floyer, Jason Dee and James Turrell. Gary Bolam finds much of his influences come from the theory of intertextuality linked to Julia Kristeva, and also the quirky humour of David Shrigley.

Creative inspiration for Fidget started with a common interest in experimenting with the contrast between light and dark – in regards to humour, aesthetic, voids and immersion. Along with a shared interest in installation artwork, we aimed to develop the aspects of our practices referenced in the exhibition name.

From working together on various projects we wanted to develop the relationship between our practices into a professional environment. We both enjoy a clean minimalist aesthetic but with quite different outcomes – so felt it would lead to an interesting dynamic for an exhibition.
