Just got home from work, spent today putting on a smile and asking customers if they need a carrier bags.
I am going to Halifax this weekend to help put up the Temporary art space exhibition. Salon. I was hoping to going all weekend but work will not give me the day off. So can only go Sunday I did get fed up but I cannot afford to loss my job..
Looking forward to help with Exhibition, something different to do at the weekend, It will be good to see how this kind of art group works and get a exhibition at this size together. I have sent in some of my marquettes in but may be I may have a chance to install an installation.
It’s been a week or so since I had the studio space, been going over the photos etc and writing in my reflective journal, I feel I have to re-group do some more research,
I know what I want to achieve but not sure how to go about it.. I keep losting were I am going.. when I start creating my installation I get so involved in the space I forget want I am trying to achieve… It’s so easy to lost your way but difficult to get back on the road.. This is why I need too re-group. stand back and re-think.
I known I want the viewer to question what they are seeing in the space. Lossing they senses of the space.
Like Brigid Riley’s paintings, the way they look like there moving and changing.. The trick of the eye.
I know I need too understand lighting and how I can get it to work better for me. Is black-out space better than white spaces? This I need to research,
It’s easy to know want’s wrong about your work, but putting it right not so easy, Does this making us better Artist? Is this why we do want we do? If it was easy it would be boring..
My two weeks have finished, no studio now. Back too kitchen table. I so want a studio, been looking at empty offices, decided I could fit a shed in my stamp of a garden if we cut down some trees and build a decking. Need money first. I have really enjoy workiing big, hoping to book space again when chidren back in school and BA students are not back.
Children finished school for summer
I have lots of things I want to do, will my 2 teenagers help me?
Will they get up and out of bed by 1.00pm?
I have idea for a doing outside installation, over a stream near my house, hope to get that do soon.
May be my children will help.. NOT!!
Booked studio space for the next two weeks in college. It is been good to have the space and work out ideas of installations. I keep looking for studios that is near were I live and cheap. I miss not having a studio, that’s one problem about doing your MA part-time you do not get a space in college. Now all BA students have finish college there is lots of space.
I been working in a black-out space this week. Which I have not used before, it as work out good. The white thread on the photographes looks like it is floating.I want the viewer to feel uncomfortable while they are walking in the space and looking at it.
I have enjoy working this week, it as been different fitting everything in with now I am working again. Got a week and bit to go lots more ideas to do work on and lots of different spaces too.
