Whilst sat on Honister pass looking at the scenery I realised that what I was looking at was man-made. Thinking about the present corona pandemic it occurred to me that it was due to man’s actions in destroying habitats that have brought us closer to viruses we have not encountered before as well as causing the extinction of other species. We are destroying our world through overuse of resources, and we produce large amounts of waste we are unable or unwilling to recycle. With my art my intention is to communicate what will happen if we continue to live as we are by using waste products and recycling them into art. As with previous art I have made I chose to pick up objects I found on the street and create art with them. My thought is that after we have destroyed all that is natural, we will only have man-made. Like Liina Klausee I want to raise ecological awareness.

This it part of my man in isolation project, having seen so many masks dropped onto the floor I imagined them falling from the trees. I’ve printed the paper using frottage and relief printing both with masks. The paper was then folded and suspended from a tree in our local park. I was very pleased with the reaction.
