The PHD and me

Ok , I’ve begun my phd , officially we started on  03/10/16 with a weeks on-boarding programme at the Jordanstown campus of the University of Ulster.That was 5 days of getting to know other phd students across the different disciplines ,about 60 in all, and getting an idea of the challenges we face in the next 3 years.

So there were talks by a variety of scholars from across the university along with a number of excercises to increase awareness ,allay some of the fears, and provide resources and encouragement, and I must say ,despite my reservations about some of the excercises involved , I did come away with a much better feel for the experience and an increase in belief ,hopefully this stands me in good stead.

In case you wondering, my phd title is “Nostalgia and amnesia in post conflict societies” ,its practice based  and within the Photography dept.
