Viewing single post of blog University Campus Suffolk

So, Thursday night I went down to Uni (for the 1st time in ages). Anyway – I recently brought some Bamboo to start creating my caged environment with the help of my BF, we built a 2 sided structure of a cage ready for my tutorial with my tutor of friday. I am really excited about how the project is coming together (finally) and what the final end product will look like.

A few notes from my tutorial that I need to be thinking about over the next couple of days!

1. what do I put at the bottom of my cage … straw, sawdust, shredded newspaper ?

2. As there will be 3 areas within the enclosure do I close off two areas and allow the viewer to peer into these areas and restrict their acces (as animals are restricted at set times of the day? or do I create doors to allow the viewer full access of the enclosure ?

3. Filming and photographing of someone in the space … how long? what time of day? Do I use the footage in the degree show? how do I do this?

4. Walls on the enclosure – the main structuree of the enclosure to be made out of bamboo … creating a bar like structure to the piece – should I include walls to the piece (made out of paper – reflecting back to my brown paper cage) to enclose two of the areas so that for the viewer to get the full effect they have to get in the enclosure to see the rest of the piece (but also – thinking back to zoos and animals – viewers at a zoo have restricted view of the animals, certain areas are closed off to the public.

5. How on earth do I make a door to a bamboo stucture? This one could be fun

* think this post would of made sense later in the blog … seeing as I haven’t shown any images or thought processes to these ideas … will get cracking and show you some images later today …
